Studies recently performed include:
- Report Card Study -
evaluated all aspects of a district-operated program,
including management issues, labor concerns, above average operating costs, and privatization considerations.
This 62 bus operation has now reduced 4 busses, implemented procedural changes, modified maintenance staffing,
and explored changes to their labor agreement. Annual savings will be over $200,000.
- Contract review and negotiations - This large New England district was experiencing
serious operating problems with their contractor, including major driver shortages.
worked with the district and the contractor to explore the
real causes of the problems, develop an improved level of communications, modify contract terms, and implement
controls. The result has been the implementation of a new five-year contract and outstanding services that have
even been recognized by municipal proclamations!
- Program Review - Due to political pressure in the community, a fully contracted district requested
that
assist in developing new specifications. Based upon
our review of the program, and the contractor's performance, we demonstrated the value of renegotiating
with the existing contractor. The result has been a very cost effective new contract with terms and
conditions that meet the needs of both the district and the contractor.
- Redistricting -
assisted this district with a through redistricting
analysis including meetings with interested parties, the development of realignment options, guidance on
the use of redistricting software supplied by their software vendor, and financial projections.
- Numerous other studies - Third party reviews of district operations; Statewide
grant study reviewing driver shortages; many bid/RFP projects; assistance with routing software selection;
routing analysis; benchmarking; and many more.
